The large hydrophilic inner surface area of Bio-Oss® allows for easy handling and simplifies the operative technique. Bio-Oss® Spongiosa granules are introduced into the defect using moderate pressure, filling the entire bony defect. Excessive compacting should be avoided, to allow adequate space for the ingrowth of the new bone and blood vessels.

Bio-Oss® small granules (0.25-1 mm): The small particle size permits close contact with surrounding bony walls and is recommended for most periodontal and oral and maxillofacial bony defects.

Bio-Oss® large granules (1-2 mm): The large surface area of the larger particle size offers space for the ingrowth of bone cells. It is recommended for large augmentations and for sinus floor elevation.
