Osteo-Pin® Resorbable Membrane Fixation Pins

Osteo-Pin® is used in oral and maxillofacial surgery and periodontics to attach and immobilize barrier membranes used for guided tissue regeneration and guided bone regeneration. The Osteo-Pin® fixation pin is a small bio-absorbable device with a tack-like design. It has a small head and retention ridges which allow compression force to be applied to the membrane and bone. Osteo-Pin® is unique in that a handle has been prefabricated onto the head of the pin to facilitate placement of the device.

Osteo-Pin® is made of synthetic biocompatible material: Poly (L - lactide-co-D, L-lactide). It remains functionally stable for at least 6 months and is completely resorbed after about 12 months. Resorption occurs as follows:

The prolonged resorption time of Osteo-Pin® allows for bone formation to proceed undisturbed. In addition, wound healing proceeds normally, unaffected by the late development of Lactic Acid and CO2.
Handling of the Osteo-Pin®
Cut handle and remove with floss ligature.
Insert pins through membrane and into holes in bone.
Drill pilot holes in bone.
